An active contestant on The Biggest Loser Season 9, Ashley developed sleep apnea at an early age. When she was six, her tonsils and adenoids were removed and she began growing quickly. By the time she was in high school, Ashley wore a size 14-16, and she has put on over 100 pounds since then. Ashley is embarrassed to run into old friends and classmates because she's self-conscious about her weight. Working at a spa that focuses on well being is difficult for her because she feels that she projects a negative image to clients.
Ashley and her mother, Sherry Johnston, joined The Biggest Loser because they decided that they have been overweight, out of shape and self-conscious about their body image for too long. They are determined to change their own lives by getting healthy and becoming role models for family and friends.
